In nearly all known cases\, the end of mineral exploitation caused a number of serious social\, economical and environmental problems. These problems are very similar in all mining regions and put pressure not only on scientific institutions and local authorities but also on national governments to develop rehabilitation and development strategies. \nComparing the current mining situation of Germany and China\, we identify that the percentage of abandoned mines in Germany is not far from 100 %. That means only a few mines more are open (except some quarries). In China the situation isn’t that extreme. So\, they will have the big closure of mines in the future. The exchange of knowledge regarding Post Mining is relevant for both\, the Chinese miners\, because they can avoid some not necessary mistakes\, and for the German mines\, because they can develop new concepts for further and additional use of the abandoned mines. \nProf. Oliver Langefeld\, TU Clausthal (Germany) and Prof. Deyi Jiang\, Chongqing University (China) are inviting the scientific community and the resposinble authorities as well as the mining\, energy & environment industries to attend this Sino-German Conference & Excurison which will be held on 7th to 11th October 2019 in Germany (Clausthal-Zellerfeld). \nDates & Events\n7 th October 1st conference day\n8 th October 2nd conference day\n9th October 3rd conference day\n10 th October 1th day of field trip\n11 th October 2th day of field trip URL:https://mining-report.de/english/event/sino-german-conference-2019/ LOCATION:CUTEC Research Center\, Leibnizstraße 23\, Clausthal-Zellerfeld\, 38678\, Germany CATEGORIES:conference ORGANIZER;CN="TU Clausthal %E2%80%93 TP":MAILTO:thorben.plett@tu-clausthal.de END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20191021 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20191023 DTSTAMP:20190705T091713Z CREATED:20190705T091610Z LAST-MODIFIED:20190705T091713Z UID:8790-1571616000-1571788799@mining-report.de SUMMARY:Future of Mining Americas 2019 DESCRIPTION:The Future of Mining Americas conference takes place at the Sheraton Denver from October 21-22 and builds upon the existing Future of Mining event series across the globe with a strategic level commercial and operational agenda connecting the industry across the Americas to discuss the latest mining innovations and technologies. \nThe second edition of this conference will cover a vast range of content spanning right across the entire mining life cycle with automation\, technology\, development and sustainability at its core\, focusing on the challenges ahead as mining begins to look beyond the now and plan for the future. \nConfirmed speakers include:\n• Gordana Slepcev\, Chief Operating Officer\, Anaconda Mining\n• Randy Weimer\, Environmental Manager\, Sibanye-Stillwater\n• Joshua Serfass\, Director\, Corporate Communication\, Integra Resources\n• Ricardo Valls\, President\, Valls GeoConsultants\n• Jon Wylie\, President\, Global Natural Resources\, Proudfoot\n• George Hemingway (Chairman)\, Partner Innovation Practice\, Stratalis Group \nKey topics include: \n• Analyze\, Adapt and Overcome:\nHow Miners can Build and Integrate an Effective Digital Strategy into their Operations? How do you manage digitization when parts of a mining organization are so different? How do you a) take that strategy and operationalize it? And b) what does that look like on the ground? \n• The Future of Mine Autonomy – Creating Tomorrow’s Mine\, Today:\nThe industry has recently had its watershed moment with the world’s first automated mine in Mali. Automation programs are being developed and supported with further resources in mining companies across the globe and a head of a mine automation program will discuss how their company plans to make automated mining a reality. \n• All for One and One for All – Industry Collaboration in the Data World:\nHow can the industry open up its data to enable better peer-to-peer comparison and benchmarking? What steps can we as an industry take towards breaking down barriers and being more open to real collaboration and sharing information? \n• A Double Edged Sword – How Innovation Will Impact our Social Licence to Operate:\nHow can innovation drive mining’s position within communities? Is it possible for mining companies to innovate without drastically impacting their workforces? \n• Your Future Workforce – Millennials aren’t the Problem\, They’re the Solution:\nHow real is the risk of falling short in the quest for new industry talent? Does this present an opportunity for mining to rebrand as an industry? \n• Building a Modern Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) – Mitigating the Risk for both Communities and Miners:\nHow can the risk of TSF failure be managed from the outset? Where is the management and review of existing TSFs falling short? \n• Equality in Innovation:\nIs Innovation Unaffordable Outside of Majors? Is innovation viable for mid-tiers and juniors? Are these smaller mining companies being priced out of being able to compete?
