During my term of office\, the education has been adapted to the technical and social developments. This includes the introduction to the Bachelor and Master program “Energy and Raw Material Supply Engineering” as well as the English-language master’s program “Mining Engineering”. \nIn research and development I was personally looking for solutions to technical problems in the field of environment and environmental protection. Numerous innovation-rich research projects have been successfully carried out. This chair was awarded with six research awards for innovations during these years. \nThe Mining 2018 will be an occasion to present a selection of our research results\, our new developments and ideas. Naturally\, the focus of this event lies on the exchange of experience and technology transfer in the sense of optimizing the processes in the mining industry. \nUniv.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil H. The World Mining Congress over the history of its existence the number of participating countries of the Congress has increased from 10 to 49 and continues to grow. \nThe leading institutions along with key suppliers and service companies will present innovative developments in mining industry. The leading experts of mining industry and representatives of related industries from all over the world will give speech at the World Mining Congress. \nThe main objectives of the World Mining Congress are:\n• promotion of world innovations and exchange of experience with the mining sector experts from all over the world;\n• development of science and promotion of international scientific and technical cooperation for progress in the MMC;\n• discussion of the most challenging issues of the MMC and finding solutions;\n• improving industrial safety and improving environment protection measures. From the extraction of raw materials through their processing and the design of the products up to a reuse or recycling process\, the goal is the environmentally friendly and economical use of raw materials. This is followed by the development of innovative and sustainable materials\, new technologies and efficient recycling processes to design a circular economy and to strengthen competitiveness in Germany and Europe. \nThe 69th BHT – Freiberger Universitätsforum is dedicated to this topic. It creates a dialogue between research\, industry and society to discuss the latest research findings. The conference will be opened on June 6\, 2018  with a “Krüger Kolloquium” at the “Alte Mensa”. The keynote speech will be presented by Hugo-Maria Schally\, Head of Eco-Innovation Circular Econnomy of the European Commission’s Environment Commission. Interested parties from science\, industry and society expect a varied and cross-thematic program on all three days. That’s why there is so much expectation among all those involved – exhibitors and visitors alike – to learn what the trade show will present and then define the course to chart for their businesses”\, explains Afonso Mamede\, president of Sobratema and one of the show’s creators. \nAccording to Mamede\, this outstanding characteristic of contributing to change the direction and the morale of the sector of equipment for construction and mining corroborates in establishing the role of M&T EXPO as a driver of technological and market development in this business segment. “This constitutes an important distinction and is an attribute that is exclusive to our trade show”\, he underscores.
