<\/p>\nThe 15th E-world energy& water, which was held at Messe Essen, attracted a record number of participants. A total of 640 exhibitors \u2013 more than ever before \u2013 from 25 countries presented their products and services in the fields of generation, efficiency, trade, transport, storage, smart energy and green technologies. They provided the some 24,000 visitors from 80 countries with answers to issues currently affecting the energy sector \u2013 from Germany\u2019s energy transition to efficient solutions for consumers. The exhibitors included numerous specialist service providers, as well as industry giants such as RWE, EnBW, E.ON, Bosch, Siemens, Gazprom and Vattenfall.<\/p>\n

Europe\u2019s leading trade fair for the energy and water industries proved once again that it is the key meeting point for decision makers. A total of 75\u2009% of the visitors are involved in purchasing and procurement within their companies. Most work for energy suppliers, service providers or industrial companies. Every fifth visitor was from abroad, with most coming from the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic and China. The consulate\u2019s day also proved extremely popular. Delegations from 31 countries \u2013 from Albania to Cuba to the US \u2013 learnt about the challenges facing the energy industry.<\/p>\n
Visitors, politicians and companies all agreed that innovations and collective efforts are needed if Germany is to achieve its energy transition. Numerous exhibitors presented solutions for producing and storing renewable energies, and technologies for generating and using energy in a more efficient way. The Smart Energy section of the trade fair was especially important in this context. This was reflected by the growth in exhibitor numbers: 120 companies (up 50\u2009%) presented their solutions for smart grids, smart metering, networked building technology, and energy storage. The Smart Energy section also included forums on smart technology and on energy transition. During the forums, actors from politics, business, science and research addressed topics such as energy storage systems, smart cities, energy 2.0 and big data.
