Mining is a dynamic industry, with resources that are being mined for centuries until reserves are exhausted or technical and market conditions changed. In nearly all known cases, the end of mineral exploitation caused a number of serious social, economical and environmental problems. These problems are very similar in all mining regions and put pressure not only on scientific institutions and local authorities but also on national governments to develop rehabilitation and development strategies.<\/p>\n

Comparing the current mining situation of Germany and China, we identify that the percentage of abandoned mines in Germany is not far from 100 %. That means only a few mines more are open (except some quarries). In China the situation isn\u2019t that extreme. So, they will have the big closure of mines in the future. The exchange of knowledge regarding Post Mining is relevant for both, the Chinese miners, because they can avoid some not necessary mistakes, and for the German mines, because they can develop new concepts for further and additional use of the abandoned mines.<\/p>\n

Prof. Oliver Langefeld, TU Clausthal (Germany) and Prof. Deyi Jiang, Chongqing University (China) are inviting the scientific community and the resposinble authorities as well as the mining, energy & environment industries to attend this Sino-German Conference & Excurison which will be held on 7th to 11th October 2019 in Germany (Clausthal-Zellerfeld).<\/p>\n
