  • Signs of industry recovery at bauma CONEXPO AFRICA amidst regional economic challenges

    The premier trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles in Africa has firmly established itself in the market following its third edition.

    454 exhibitors from 34 countries and 14,167 visitors attended the international trade fair, which took place from 13th to 16th March 2018 in Johannesburg (Figure 1). 13 % of the visitors came from outside the host country South Africa. The top five visitor countries from Africa were Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia. Delegations from Chile, Israel, Kenya and Turkey visited the trade fair. Their participation underlines the importance of bauma CONEXPO AFRICA as the largest industry event for this sector in the region. Exhibitors experienced increased sales of machinery and equipment over the four days of the trade fair.

    The economic comeback of Subsahara and positive market opportunities in South Africa are reflected in the number of companies that have already signed up for the upcoming bauma CONEXPO AFRICA. The third international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in South Africa from 13th to 16th March 2018 (Figure 1).

    New entrance to ensure optimal visitor flow

    Changes are being made to the upcoming event, one of which will optimize visitor flow to all exhibition areas. In addition to entrance 5/6, visitors will now be able to use entrance 3/4. In 2018, the addition of this entrance will feature a new outdoor exhibition area that will provide exhibitors with more space for their displays.
