Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft (BDEW)

On 16th June 2020, the Board of Management of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin/Germany, unanimously approved Marie-Luise Wolff, Chair of the Board at ENTEGA AG, Darmstadt, as BDEW President. Nathalie Leroy, Spokeswoman for Management at HAMBURG WASSER, was elected as the new Vice President for Water/Wastewater of the BDEW. She succeeds Jörg Simon from the Berliner Wasserbetriebe water supply company, who did not stand again. Ulf Heitmüller, Chairman of the Executive Board at VNG AG, Christian Meyer-Hammerström, Managing Director of Osterholzer Stadtwerke GmbH & Co. KG, and Rolf Martin Schmitz, Chairman of the Management Board at RWE AG, were approved as BDEW Vice Presidents. Klaus Saiger, Managing Director of FairNetz GmbH, and Leonhard Birnbaum, Member of the Board of Management at E.ON SE, were newly elected to the committee.

On 13th August 2019, Kerstin Andreae was appointed by the Chair of the Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e. V. (BDEW), Berlin/Germany, to become the new Chair of the Executive Management Board. The economics graduate will take over as Chair of the sector association on 1st November 2019. Andreae is currently the economic spokesperson of the German Federal BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN parliamentary group and has been a member of the German Parliament since 2002.

On 12th June 2018, the Board of Management of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin/Germany, elected Marie-Luise Wolff, Chair of the Board at ENTEGA AG, as the new BDEW President. The former President of the Association, Johannes Kempmann, Technical Manager at Städtische Werke Magdeburg, did not stand again after two terms of office.

At the end of September 2016, Roger Kohlmann left the General Executive Management Board of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin/Germany. He is succeeded by Andrees Gentzsch, former Director of the Legal division of the General Executive Management Board.

On 1st May 2016, Stefan Kapferer is due to take over as Chairman of the General Executive Management Board of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin. He is currently Deputy Secretary-General at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, and previously held the role of State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), Berlin. At BDEW he will be succeeding Hildegard Müller, who is taking up a board position within the RWE Group in May 2016.

The new Vice President of the German Association of Energy and Water Resources Management (BDEW), Berlin, who is therefore successor to Michael Feist, Chairman of the Board at Stadtwerke Hanover, is Dieter Steinkamp, who is Chairman of the Board at Rheinenergie AG in Cologne.

Tilman Schwencke has been in charge of the strategy and policy division at the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) in Berlin since 1st July 2015. He took over the post from Andreas Kuhlmann, who has moved to the German Energy Agency (dena).
