Mining trade fair MICA, which was originally due to take place at the end of September 2018 in Algeria, has been combined with the Algeria Infrastructure trade fair. Both events will now take place from 28th to 30th January 2019 at the Palais des Expositions exhibition centre in Algeria. MICA provides manufacturers and service providers from the mining sector with a three-day-long platform for presenting their services and expertise in the growth market of Algeria (Figure 1).

In 2019, the third MICA (Salon International des Produits et Services pour les Mines et Carrières/International/Exhibition for Products and Services for Mines and Quarries) will take place in parallel with the Algeria Infrastructure international trade fair for the first time. The products presented at MICA range from mining machinery and equipment to bulk handling systems and earth-moving equipment right through to safety equipment and equipment for recycling and processing. Scientific presentations and discussions relating to the mining industry are also planned as part of a side-by-side forum.

The mining sector is becoming increasingly important in Algeria. The country, which is rich in natural resources, is further diversifying its economy in order to reduce its dependence on crude oil and natural gas. The government is planning to make further investments and work with foreign partners. This year, the extraction of phosphate, lead and zinc is set to be intensified. New systems are also being planned in order to process baryte, diatomite and bentonite. There is also a strong demand for building materials such as sand and gravel for use in the planned major construction projects in the infrastructure and housing sectors.

Zum 14. Mal lädt die iranische Leitmesse IranConMin die internationale Bau- und Bergbaubranche nach Teheran/Iran. Auf dem Tehran Permanent Fairground stehen den Ausstellern vom 2. bis 5. November 2018 rd. 15.000 m² Fläche zur Verfügung, um ihr Produktportfolio rund um Bergbau, Baumaschinen und Bausysteme zu präsentieren. Deutschland und China werden mit eigenen Länder-Pavillons vertreten sein, auch Polen, Finnland und Italien planen Gruppenbeteiligungen. Im Jahr 2017 kamen zur größten und internationalsten Baufachmesse in der Region rd. 20.500 Fachbesucher und knapp 300 Aussteller aus 15 Ländern. Gerade für kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen bietet der Iran nach wie vor interessante Wachstumschancen.

Die IranConMin ist seit Jahren die größte Baumesse im Iran, die internationale Aussteller mit iranischen Entscheidungsträgern und Experten aus dem Bau- und Bergbausektor zusammen-bringt. Um den Austausch auch abseits der Messestände zu fördern, wird die Messe von einem Seminarprogramm begleitet. Dort diskutieren internationale Experten die Chancen und Herausforderungen der Bau- und Miningbranche und zeigen aktuelle Produktentwicklungen und Trends. Veranstalter ist seit Gründung der Messe im Jahr 1994 die IMAG GmbH, eine Tochter der Messe München, welche die IranConMin gemeinsam mit ihren Partnern Palar Samaneh Co. und IranMineHouse organisiert.

Deutschland, einer der größten Handelspartner des Iran im Maschinenbau, wird sich wie in den Vorjahren mit einer Bundesbeteiligung präsentieren. Die Bundesrepublik, die auf eine lange Handelstradition mit dem Iran zurückblickt, konnte ihre Maschinenexporte in das Land im Jahr 2017 um gut 21 % auf 901 Mio. € steigern. Damit liegt Deutschland knapp vor Italien und hinter China, das sich in den letzten Jahren über alle Branchen hinweg zum Handels-partner Nummer 1 des Iran entwickelt hat. Deutsche Unternehmen haben die Möglichkeit, unter dem Label „Made in Germany“ im Rahmen eines Gemeinschaftsstands auszustellen, der vom Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie gefördert wird.

Unterstützt wird die Messe vom Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA). Dessen Hauptgeschäftsführer Thilo Brodtmann hält den deutsch-iranischen Außenhandel nach wie vor für machbar, wie er in einer Pressemitteilung Anfang Mai erklärte: „So lange die EU ihre Sanktionen gegen den Iran nicht wieder aktiviert, ist legales Irangeschäft für die deutsche Wirtschaft weiterhin möglich.“ Gleichzeitig sicherte er den Verbandsmitgliedern dabei die Unterstützung des VDMA zu. Der Bergbausektor spielt dank des iranischen Reichtums an Bodenschätzen nach wie vor eine große Rolle im Land. Der Iran verfügt über große Vorkommen an Eisenerz, Kupfer und Zink. (IMAG/Si.)

IMAG GmbH, Munich/Germany, is expanding its involvement in the mining sector. With immediate effect, the subsidiary of Messe München has become an international partner of the MICA mining trade fair (Figure 1) in Algiers/Algeria. To make this official, IMAG and Symbiose Communication Environnement have recently signed a partnership agreement. The next edition of the trade fair will be held in September 2018.

The MICA (Salon International des Produits et Services pour les Mines et Carrières/International Exhibition for Products and Services for Mines and Quarries) is aimed at professional visitors from the mining sector. Decision-makers in the mining industry meet up with manufacturers and service providers over the course of three days. An accompanying forum gives all participants the chance to discuss current issues within the industry.

In Algeria, which is rich in natural resources, the extraction of minerals plays an increasingly important role in reducing the dependency on the oil and gas sector. As part of efforts to further diversify the economy, 38 new sites are set to be developed for mining. These efforts include e. g. increasing phosphate production from its current level of 1.2 mt to 10 mt by 2020, and doubling steel production by 2025. Enormous quantities of raw materials are also required for the large-scale building projects planned in the country.

The third edition of the MICA will be held from 25th to 27th September 2018 at the Palais des Expositions les Pins Maritimes, Algiers. About 70 exhibitors and 2,500 visitors from the industry are expected to attend. (IMAG/Si.)
