IranConMin

  • IranConMin to bring the international construction and mining industries to Tehran in November 2018

For the 14th time, the Iranian trade fair IranConMin has invited the movers and shakers of the international construction and mining industries to Tehran. From 2nd to 5th November 2018 exhibitors will meet at the Tehran Permanent Fairground, where 15,000 m2 of floor space will be dedicated to showcasing their product portfolios for all items related to mining, construction machinery and construction systems. Germany and China will each be represented with their own pavilion, while Poland, Finland and Italy also plan joint appearances. In 2017, around 20,500 professional visitors attended the largest and most international construction trade fair in the region, as did around 300 exhibitors from 15 different countries. Iran continues to offer interesting growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises in particular.

The IranConMin has been the largest construction trade fair in Iran for a number of years, which brings international exhibitors together with the most important decision-makers in Iran and experts from the construction and mining sectors. The trade fair is accompanied by a seminar program which also encourages exchange away from the trade fair stands. There, international experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by the construction and mining sector and showcase current product developments and trends. Since the event began in 1994 it has been hosted by IMAG GmbH, a subsidiary of Messe MĂŒnchen, which organizes the IranConMin together with its partners Palar Samaneh Co. and IranMineHouse.

As in previous years, Germany, one of Iran’s biggest trade partners in machine building, will take part in the fair with its own stand. The Federal Republic has a long history of trading with Iran, and increased its exports there by around 21 % – i.e. to 901 m € in 2017. This puts Germany slightly ahead of Italy and behind China, which in recent years has become Iran’s largest trade partner across all sectors. German companies will be able to exhibit under the “Made in Germany” label at a shared stand sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The trade fair is being endorsed by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), whose Managing Director Thilo Brodtmann considers German-Iranian foreign trade as feasible as ever, commenting in a press release at the beginning of May that: “Provided the EU doesn’t impose sanctions on Iran again, it will be possible for German trade and industry to legally do business with Iran.” He also took the opportunity to assure members of the federation of the VDMA’s support in this matter.

Thanks to Iran‘s mineral wealth, the mining sector continues to play a major role in the country. Iran has huge deposits of iron ore, copper and zinc. (IMAG/Si.)

  • IranConMin to bring the international construction and mining industries to Tehran in November 2018

(IMAG/Si.)

  • IranConMin – the positive trend continues

There was once again considerable interest in IranConMin in 2017: some 20,500 visitors attended the trade fair for mining, construction machinery and construction systems, which took place from 4th to 7th November 2017 in Tehran. Nearly 300 exhibitors from 15 countries showcased their product portfolios on a surface area of 16,000 m2. As a result, the 13th edition of the region’s biggest mining and construction fair was able to maintain the previous year’s upward momentum.

The importance of IranConMin to the Iranian market was demonstrated at the opening of the fair, with top-level government representatives in attendance such as Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, Mohammad Shariatmadari (Figure 1). There was particular interest in the mining sector, reflected in the fact that the mining conference was held at the same time: here, top-level experts spent two days discussing the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, the main focus here being on environmental issues. In Iran, the efficient and environment-friendly extraction of raw materials such as iron ore, copper and zinc is becoming increasingly important in order to reduce dependency on mineral oil and increase quality and security in work and life in general.

The special exhibition CET gave China a particularly outstanding role at IranConMin: together with Germany, the country is Iran’s leading foreign trading partner. There was a Chinese trade fair pavilion featuring some 40 exhibitors as well as joint stands for German and Italian companies.

After most of the economic sanctions imposed on Iran were lifted in January 2016, the trade show saw a 50 % increase in exhibitor figures. This positive trend kept up in 2017 since many foreign companies want to make the most of the opportunity to become established in the growth market of Iran. The country is in considerable need of modernization and there are large-scale construction and infrastructure projects in planning, while at the same time investment is possible again now that sanctions have been lifted.

The next IranConMin takes place from 5th to 8th November 2018 in Tehran. Further information: www.iranconmin.de. (IMAG/Si.)
