  • 2nd International Conference on High Performance Mining

The 2nd International Conference on High-Performance Mining wants to inspire change in the global mining industry by presenting benchmark projects that provide insights into realizing the mine of the future through the following core themes:

The Autonomous Mine, the Green Mine, and the People’s Mine, representing the vision for the mine of the future: digitally integrated and connected, autonomous, productive and profitable, safe and socially accepted with minimum environmental impact.

The Conference program spans four days with three hours of moderated program per day accommodating different time zones.

All sessions feature joint presentations by mine operators and suppliers or research partners by a range of international speakers. Taking an integrated approach to considering people, technology and the environment in transformation and innovation processes they allow for comprehensive insights into success factors as well as challenges.

Since the Conference has traditionally been a platform to meet and form new bonds and partnerships, we take advantage of the latest technological tools to provide facilitated and moderated networking opportunities and engaging side-events to enable the attendees to get into contact with each other.

  • AIMS 2019 – Mines of the Future

On behalf of the organising committee of the 2nd International Conference Mines of the Future, we invite you to Aachen, Germany.

Modern mining needs to be profitable, it should operate with environmental integrity, be considerate of social concerns and be supported by effective government systems. At the same time, mining companies face operational challenges. Such challenges will only be solved through very important changes, in the way the mining sector engages with society, uses energy, protects the environment, educates professionals and pursues innovations. Mines of the future will need to be different to those of today.

The key objective of the 2nd International Conference Mines of the Future (Science, Technology, Innovation and Responsibility) is to share the latest developments on mining expertise, activities, developments and research that support mines of the future.

We look forward to meeting you at this what promises to be a most stimulating and enjoyable Conference!

  • AIMS 2017 Conference fostered international exchange on “Mining in Europe” in Aachen – “Mines of the Future” on the agenda for 2018

The 2nd International Conference “Mining in Europe” took place in Aachen/Germany in June 2017. Prof. Bernd Lottermoser as conference chair took again the opportunity to focus within the renowned Aachen International Mining Symposia (AIMS conference series) on the key issue Mining in Europe. Having attracted more than 200 participants from 22 countries, the two-day conference was an extraordinary success. The conference’s agenda contained more than 70 expert contributions, covering a wide variety of current topics in mining as well as other related fields. A large number of speakers, among them representatives from universities, government authorities, the mining industry and consulting companies put forward their latest findings relevant to the selected topics of Responsible Mining, Mining Technologies and Mineral Resources. Furthermore, 13 different exhibitors seized the opportunity to present their latest products and developments to an international audience (Figure 1).

Prof. Lottermoser and his staff of the Institute of Mineral Resources Engineering (MRE) are delighted with the conference’s outcomes and already look forward to the next AIMS conference. Starting a new conference series, the AIMS 2018 conference will be the 1st International Conference Mines of the Future taking place during 23rd to 24th May 2018. Key topics will be technological advances and innovation, best practices and benchmarking, as well as responsible and sustainable mining.
