Uniper

Klaus Schäfer, the founding CEO of Uniper SE, Düsseldorf,/Germany sadly passed away on 26th August 2020 at the age of 53. Schäfer had been Chairman of the Executive Board at the company since Uniper was founded until mid-2019. He had already been forced to withdraw from his duties since August 2018 due to illness.

At an extraordinary meeting on 22nd April 2020 the Supervisory Board of Uniper SE, Düsseldorf/Germany, elected Prof. Klaus-Dieter Maubach as new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Prof. Maubach began his career in the energy sector in 1995. Over the last 25 years, he has fulfilled many leadership roles in several energy companies, such as E.ON. In addition, he is also a member of other Supervisory Boards, like the ones of ABB Deutschland AG and of Fortum Oyj.

The Supervisory Board of Uniper SE, Düsseldorf/Germany, decided on 2nd May 2019 to appoint Andreas Schierenbeck as Chairman of the Board and Sascha Bibert as the new Uniper CFO. Prior to this role, Schierenbeck was the Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Elevators. He is replacing Klaus Schäfer, whose departure on 31st May 2019 was announced by Uniper in February. Bibert comes to Uniper from E.ON SE, where he held various management roles in finance, most recently as CFO of the Turkish holding Enerjisa. He takes over from Christopher Delbrück, who is also leaving the company on 31st May 2019.

The Executive Board of Uniper SE, Düsseldorf/Germany, is set to be restructured. Current CEO Klaus Schäfer and CFO Christopher Delbrück will be leaving the company by the end of August 2019. Their successors have yet to be appointed.

Leif Erichsen has been appointed Senior Vice President of External Communication & Brand at Uniper SE, Düsseldorf/Germany, effective 1st January 2017. He succeeds Josef Nelles, who took early retirement at the end of 2016.

Former Chief Financial Officer of E.ON SE, Klaus Schäfer, is to become Chairman of the Board of Management at what will now be Uniper, the company branch responsible for the coal, gas and nuclear power production divisions that was formerly E.ON SE in Düsseldorf. Christopher Delbrück will take over the financial division as CFO. Eckhardt Rümmler has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO).
