On 12th June 2018, the Board of Management of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin/Germany, elected Marie-Luise Wolff, Chair of the Board at ENTEGA AG, as the new BDEW President. The former President of the Association, Johannes Kempmann, Technical Manager at Städtische Werke Magdeburg, did not stand again after two terms of office.

CEDEC Board of Directors elected Andreas Feicht, CEO of WSW Energie & Wasser AG and Vice-President for Energy of the German Association of Local Public Utilities (VKU), as the new President of the Federation of Local Energy Companies (CEDEC), Brussels/Belgium.

Helmar Rendez, Chairman of the Board at LEAG, is the new Chairman of the German Lignite Association (DEBRIV), Berlin/Germany. He was elected to his new office at the general meeting at this year‘s lignite convention. The new Deputy Chairman was declared to be Lars Kulik, Member of the Board of Management at RWE Power AG.

Since 1st July 2018, Erich Kometz has been the new head of the Central Division of Communication and Sustainability at the RAG Aktiengesellschaft, Essen/Germany. In this role, he succeeds Prof. Eberhard Schmitt. Christoph Beike is also deputy to Kometz in addition to his role as Head of Public Affairs. Prof. Eberhard Schmidt, who was Head of the Central Division of Communication and Sustainability at RAG Aktiengesellschaft -until 30th June 2018, moved to the RAG-Stiftung in Essen/Germany in the same role on 1st July 2018.

On 1st August 2018, Ralf Giesen, former Member of the Board of Management at housing association Vivawest GmbH, will become the new Head of HR at RWE Power AG, Essen/Germany. He will take over from Erwin Winkel, who retired at the end of June 2018.

With effect from 1st June 2018, Friedrich Hirt-ler has been appointed Managing Director of Sandvik Mining and Construction Central Europe GmbH, Essen/Germany, having taken over this management role on an acting basis back in December 2017 alongside his permanent position of Sales Manager Parts and Services. Klaus Freytag, former Head of Brandenburg State Mining office (Landesbergamt Brandenburg) and, since 2015, Head of the Energy and Raw Materials Department at the Ministry for Economic Affairs of the State of Brandenburg, was named by Minister-President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) as the new coordinator for Lusatia at the State Chancellery. Freytag has his office in Cottbus.
