Franziska Erdle is the new managing director of the WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle, an association for the non-ferrous metals industry in Berlin. She takes over from Martin Kneer, who has left the association.

The board of Verband der Industriellen Energie- und Kraftwirtschaft e. V., an association for the energy and power industry in Essen, has appointed Barbara Minderjahn as its new managing director. Minderjahn previously headed up the association’s Berlin office and was a member of the extended management board. Dr Annette Loske will remain as general manager of the association.

Sabine Jeschke took over as head of the RWE AG press office in mid-February 2015. Jeschke was previously head of communications at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, an RWE subsidiary also based in Essen.

At its meeting on 4 March 2015, the supervisory board of RWE AG Essen decided ahead of time to extend the contract of its CEO, Peter Terium, until 2021.

Dr Heinz Horn, who served from 1985 to 1994 as CEO of what was then Ruhrkohle AG and as president of the former Gesamt­verband des deutschen Steinkohlenbergbaus (GVSt) in Essen, died on 23 February 2015.

Rainer Kolligs, a mining consultant who served as chairman of the board at Ruhrkohle Niederrhein AG and, prior to that, at Bergbau AG Lippe, died on 24 February 2015.

Engineer Wolfram Zilligen has stepped down as head of the Prosper Haniel coal mine in Bottrop. His successor is engineer Jürgen Kroker, director of the Auguste Victoria mine in Marl. Kroker will run both facilities until the Auguste Victoria mine closes in late 2015.

Fatih Birol, currently chief economist at the International Energy Agency in Paris, will become its new director on 1 September 2015. He is taking over from Maria van der Hoeven, who is stepping down after four years in office.

Dr Torsten Köhne left the board of management at EWE AG in Oldenburg with retroactive effect from 1 January. He had been responsible for the Generation division. Dr Titus Gebel has stepped down as CEO of Deutsche Rohstoff AG in Heidelberg. He left the company at his own request on 31 December 2014.
