Dillinger unveils customer app at the bauma 2019

Dillinger, Dillingen/Germany, together with its subsidiaries Ancofer Stahlhandel, AncoferWaldram Steelplates and Jebens, will be showing new additions to its comprehensive portfolio of products, supply potentials and services covering all facets of heavy plate, in Munich at the bauma, the world’s leading construction machinery and mining trade fair.

Every year, Dillinger supplies around 2 Mt of heavy plate for highly stressed structures in key industries such as linepipe, offshore, wind energy, boiler construction, mechanical engineering, earthmoving machines and steel construction. Dillinger’s customers in the earthmoving machinery and mining sectors put their trust in DILLIMAX and DILLIDUR steels (Figure 2). Ultra-high strength, but nonetheless extremely tough and exceptionally easy to work and weld – these properties make DILLIMAX the ideal solution for slender designs in the field of machinery and support structures subjected to ultra-high loads, and requiring high precision and uncompromising safety. Thanks to many years of continuous further development, DILLIDUR, with hardnesses ranging up to 550 Brinell, combines a unique mix of high wear resistance and easy working and welding.

In addition to its traditionally highly diversified range of grades and dimensions, Dillinger also provides its customers with important support services and complex fabrication operations on the plates it supplies.

With its groundbreaking products and technologies, Dillinger pursues its aim of giving its customers the maximum possible technological lead. The innovations presented at this year’s bauma are, in some cases, based on Dillinger’s largest continuous-caster, “CC6”: Since 2017, it has been possible to produce on this machine slabs of the world’s largest continuous-cast format – up to 2,200 mm x 600 mm – as the feed material for the Dillinger heavy-plate rolling-mill. The slabs cast on CC6 enable production of plates of extremely large dimensions and individual item weights, permitting yet another expansion of the company’s supply range. CC6 allows the production of greater quantities of thick plates in shorter times. The benefit for Dillinger customers can be found in the reduced need for welding when fabricating large components and thus also in faster completion of such projects. Not least of all, the machine provides the potential for the further development of new steels with ultra-high surface specifications and out-of-the-ordinary dimensions.

As in so many sectors, digitalisation is also continuously gaining in importance in the earthmoving-machinery industry. Dillinger is supporting this trend with the introduction of its “E-Connect” app. This enables logged in customers to identify a plate as a Dillinger heavy plate easily and with certainty simply by scanning the barcode on the plate. The actual analysis of, i. e., the customer’s DILLIMAX plate is then displayed directly on his or her smartphone. Just one more click then enables the customer to view, on the basis of this analysis, valuable information on working and welding, such as the best cooling time for welding or the recommended preheating temperature for flame cutting.
