IranConMin grows by 50 %

330 exhibitors from 13 countries presented their innovations at the 12th IranConMin in Tehran/Iran. This represents a 50 % increase in both the number of exhibitors as well as the exhibition space compared to the previous event in 2015. China, Finland and South Korea were represented with joint stands. And after the easing of the sanctions, Germany was also once again represented with an official participation with 45 companies (Figure 1). The largest and most international mining and construction machinery trade fair in the region, which took place from November 5th to 8th, attracted about 20,000 visitors.

The trade fair was accompanied by an international mining congress with about 800 participants. The congress was organized by the Iranian mine association IranMineHouse, which is also a partner of IranConMin. On November 6th, for the first time, the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), Frankfurt Main/Germany, also organized a special technology symposium concerning the topic „Machines and systems for producing concrete and concrete products“.

Peter Bergleiter, Managing Director of IMAG, Munich/Germany, said that the growth of the fair would reflect the great interest in Iran – especially from abroad. Since 16th January 2016, a large portion of the international economic sanctions against Iran have been lifted. An increasing number of companies wants to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the attractive market with 80 million inhabitants, many of them are young and well-educated, and decades of underused infrastructure. Experts expect a quadrupling of the trade volume between Iran and Germany in the coming years.

The next IranConMin will take place from 5th to 8th November 2017 in Tehran. (IMAG/Si.)
