  • ADC and E-MERT expand AI safety solutions across Türkiye’s mining sector

After a successful seven-month operational trial on a Caterpillar dump truck, a major mining customer in Türkiye has confirmed the procurement of 14 additional Brigade Electronics AI 360 systems for deployment across its mining fleet during 2026.

The expansion follows strong performance results achieved during testing, where Brigade’s AI-powered safety technology demonstrated significant improvements in driver visibility, collision awareness, and operational safety in demanding mining environments.

The customer’s fleet includes both Caterpillar 785C and Hitachi EH4000AC dump trucks, with long-term plans to continue retrofitting Brigade AI 360 systems across the wider fleet at a projected rate of 13–20 systems annually.

Installation and commissioning of the new systems will be carried out by the ADC Design and Engineering team in Türkiye, leveraging the company’s extensive expertise in heavy vehicle safety systems, industrial integration, and mining applications.

“The successful seven-month trial demonstrated the real operational value of AI-powered safety systems in demanding mining environments. Following the positive results, we are proud to support the customer’s decision to expand the deployment across additional Caterpillar and Hitachi dump trucks. This project represents another important step in improving safety standards within Türkiye’s mining sector” said Alper Dinlenc, Senior Electronics Engineer founder and CEO of ADC.

The first installations on two different dump truck platforms showcased during the 12th International Mining Fair in Istanbul, took place in April.

The exhibition provided mining operators, fleet managers and industry stakeholders with the opportunity to see Brigade’s AI 360 technology operating on both Caterpillar and Hitachi haul trucks in real-world mining configurations.

The project was delivered in collaboration with E-MERT, a well-established company operating across Türkiye’s mining sector. Acting as ADC’s strategic ally and dealer partner for mining applications, E-MERT plays an important role in supporting customer engagement, field operations and sector-specific implementation.

Together, ADC and E-MERT are helping mining companies adopt advanced safety technologies designed to reduce risk, improve operational awareness and support safer working environments across large-scale mining operations.

“Mining operations require reliable, field-proven technologies that can perform under extremely challenging conditions. Together with ADC and Brigade, we are helping mining companies in Türkiye adopt advanced safety solutions that improve driver awareness, reduce risk and support safer working environments across their fleets,” said Mr.Emrah MERTYUREK, E-MERT Founder and CEO.

Mining environments present unique visibility and safety challenges due to the size of haul trucks, restricted sightlines, harsh weather conditions, dust, low-light operations and constant vehicle and pedestrian movement.

Brigade’s AI 360 system combines advanced camera technology with artificial intelligence-powered object detection to provide drivers with a comprehensive around-vehicle view and intelligent alerts for pedestrians and obstacles in blind spots. By helping operators identify hazards earlier and respond more effectively, Brigade AI 360 supports safer and more efficient mining operations.

ADC Design & Engineering Co. Ltd is a Türkiye-based technology and engineering company specialising in vehicle safety systems, industrial electronics, and advanced integration solutions for heavy-duty and commercial vehicles.

With extensive experience across mining, construction, transpor, and industrial sectors, ADC delivers tailored safety technologies that improve operational efficiency and help customers meet increasingly demanding safety standards.

Through its partnership with Brigade Electronics and collaboration with E-MERT, ADC continues to support the adoption of intelligent safety systems across Türkiye’s mining industry.

  • Brigade launches Backsense® Radar OSD for smarter, integrated vehicle safety

Brigade has launched Backsense® Radar On-Screen Display (OSD), a next-generation safety system that combines radar and camera technologies into one intelligent in-cab solution for construction, mining and other demanding operating environments. Designed to support safer manoeuvring and improve driver awareness, Backsense® Radar OSD gives operators a clearer understanding of what is happening around the vehicle while helping reduce in-cab distraction.

Backsense® Radar OSD brings radar and camera detection together into a single, unified display. Instead of relying on multiple monitors and separate alerts, drivers receive one clear view of surrounding hazards with radar detection zones overlaid directly onto the screen.

The system combines Brigade’s proven radar technology with AI-powered camera systems to deliver dependable, real-time awareness around the vehicle. Adaptive radar detects objects at distances of up to 60 metres and continues to perform in challenging conditions including dust, darkness and poor weather. At the same time, AI camera systems can recognise pedestrians and other hazards to support faster, more informed driver responses. Together, these technologies help operators move towards safer worksites, improved visibility and greater confidence during everyday manoeuvres.

Construction and mining environments demand constant driver awareness. Backsense® Radar OSD has been developed to simplify safety information and keep driver focus where it matters most.

Radar alerts are displayed directly on the monitor and supported by a five-stage audible warning system. This creates a more intuitive experience that reduces unnecessary complexity in the cab while helping drivers react quickly to changing surroundings.

The system also adapts automatically to different operating conditions. Configurable detection zones and optional GPS-enabled adaptive detection allow detection ranges to adjust in real time based on vehicle speed. This removes the need for manual reconfiguration and helps maintain consistent safety performance throughout the working day.

Backsense® Radar OSD is engineered to suit a wide range of commercial vehicles and mobile plant applications. The system supports up to four radar sensors and three camera inputs using AHD or CVBS formats. It is also fully compatible with Brigade’s Backeye®360 camera system and AI Human Form Recognition (HFR) technology for enhanced pedestrian awareness. This flexibility makes the system particularly valuable for aftermarket installations where operators need scalable safety solutions that can adapt across mixed fleets.

Built for harsh operating conditions, Backsense® Radar OSD delivers reliable performance in construction, mining and heavy-duty applications. Radar sensors are rated to IP69K and operate in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. The system also meets key international standards including CE marking, UNECE R10 (E-mark) and FCC/IC approvals, supporting compliance across global markets.

Thierry Bourgeay, Senior Product Manager at Brigade, said: “Backsense® Radar OSD represents a significant step forward in vehicle safety integration. By combining radar and camera technologies into a single, intelligent system, we’re giving operators a clearer, more reliable picture of what’s happening around their vehicles. This supports the reduction of complexity in the cab while increasing confidence on the ground, especially in the challenging environments our customers operate in every day.”
