  • Epiroc launches integrated digital mine planning solutions

Epiroc is launching a comprehensive set of digital mine planning solutions globally to further strengthen mining companies’ operations. The launch marks a milestone in Epiroc’s strategy to consolidate its digital technology acquisitions into one connected offering, bringing together years of integration, development, and deep mining domain expertise.

Over the past years, Epiroc has pursued a deliberate strategy of acquiring and integrating specialist digital mining capabilities. The expertise and software heritage of MineRP — acquired in 2021 — is one of the foundations, contributing deep domain knowledge in integrated mine planning, execution, and optimization. In addition, Epiroc has drawn on capabilities and expertise from across its broader portfolio of digital acquisitions to build a unified, scalable offering of planning solutions.

The integration work is now complete. The individual technologies have been consolidated, further developed, and brought together under Epiroc’s Groundbreaking Intelligence portfolio. The result is five purpose-built planning solutions — including one entirely new product, OreInventory — now available to mining customers worldwide, backed by Epiroc’s global presence and deployment expertise.

The five planning solutions are: Work Manager, SimulatOre, Drill Quality Manager, InterOp, and the new OreInventory.

    • Work Manager: A short-term planning and work management tool for active digital shift support that helps mining teams collaboratively plan, execute, track, and review all shift work to improve compliance with the plan. Work Manager provides real-time shift visibility, resource/task orchestration, multi-user collaboration, and integrated reporting.
    • SimulatOre: An AI and analytics decision-support platform that combines predictive modelling, optimization, and simulation to help mines reduce disruption and manage risk while meeting production and financial targets. SimulatOre enables users to predict expected conditions, optimize decisions (targets, routing, blending, deployment), and test plans against real-world variability before execution.
    • OreInventory: A mineral inventory, material characterization, and ore-flow management solution that centralizes ore-flow networks, stockpile balances, grades, and movement tracking to support blending and supply chain decisions. OreInventory also supports reliable ore accounting, reconciliation, and auditable reporting by integrating geology, plans, surveys, and operational feedback.
    • Drill Quality Manager: A fleet-agnostic drill quality management solution for surface and underground operations that monitors, visualizes, and optimizes drilling performance using drill quality analytics and near real-time 3D visualization. Drill Quality Manager helps teams compare planned vs. actual drilling, identify deviations quickly, reduce re-drilling, and improve fragmentation and resource use.
    • InterOp: A digital interoperability and data management platform that integrates mining and enterprise systems into a unified data ecosystem (built on MiODS, the Mine Operational Data Store). InterOp enables real-time data exchange, governance, and analytics across planning, geology, survey, ERP, and operational systems to support a consistent “single version of the truth.”

  • Epiroc wins large order for underground mining equipment in Zambia

Epiroc AB, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has won a large order for mining equipment from Mopani Copper Mines Plc in Zambia. The equipment will strengthen productivity and safety at two underground copper mines.

Mopani Copper Mines has ordered a fleet of Epiroc’s Minetruck haulers and Scooptram loaders. The machines will be used to boost production capacity at the mining company’s Nkana and Mufulira mines, which both were formed almost a century ago.

The order is valued at around MUSD 20 (MSEK 180) and was booked in the first quarter 2026. Epiroc will also provide service on the machines.

“Epiroc has a long history of delivering equipment and services to Mopani Copper Mines,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “We look forward to continue supporting Mopani to optimize their operations, this time with our advanced mine trucks and loaders.”

The ordered equipment consists of Minetruck MT436 and Minetruck MT42 S haulers as well as Scooptram ST14 S and Scooptram ST1030 loaders.

Delivery of the equipment has just begun and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

  • Epiroc releases fully automatic functionality for the Serpent ventilation system – Serpent Automatic

Epiroc now takes its successful Serpent ventilation system to the next level by launching automatic functionality. Serpent Automatic (Figure 1) optimizes air quality, air flow and energy expenditure automatically and can radically reduce energy consumption and ventilation costs. “This is more than an efficient ventilation system,” says Diana Baldeon, Global Product Manager for Serpent Ventilation at Epiroc. “With the launch of Serpent Automatic, we are taking a giant leap into the future towards a more modern, reliable and cost-efficient automatic operation”.

The smart Serpent Automatic module minimizes energy consumption while ensuring compliance with any environmental requirements and regulations. Sensors regularly measure CO and NO2 levels to determine air quality, then automatically adjust fan speed to continuously ensure adequate air flow and a perfectly regulated underground work environment.

Serpent fan stations already in use, or other ventilation system equipped with VFD, can easily be upgraded to include the new automatic functions. Serpent Automatic is delivered as a central module that is mounted onto the base station, while the sensors are placed in the tunnel or mine. “Easy installation saves both time and money,” says Baldeon. “It has been very important for us to create a truly installation-friendly solution. The only thing you need is a wireless network.
