On 1st October 2016, Ulf Heitmüller, former Head of the Trade division of Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW), was appointed Chairman of the Board of Verbundnetz Gas AG (VNG), Leipzig/Germany, succeeding Karsten Heuchert.

An extraordinary general meeting of the gas transmission company Verbundnetz Gas AG (VNG) has elected Matthias Brückmann, Deputy Chairman of EWE AG, Ulf Heitmüller, head of commercial trading at EnBW AG, and Jochen Weise, Senior Advisor Allianz Capital Partners, to be new members of the VNG Supervisory Board. The new appointments were necessary following the retirement from the Supervisory Board on 25 November 2015 of Dr Rainer Seele, Chief Executive Officer of Wintershall GmbH, Wintershall Chairman Dr Ties Tiessen and Head of Legal Affairs, Tax and Insurance at Wintershall, Mathias Wolkewitz.
