The series of events is organised by specialist institutes of German and Austrian universities and the Working Group 4.6 ‘Old Mining’ of the DGGT (German Society for Geotechnics) in cooperation with the DMV (German Mine Surveyors’ Association). This event is a continuation of the Old Mining Colloquia, which took place almost every year between 2001 and 2024 in Freiberg, Clausthal/Goslar, Leoben, Aachen, Wroclaw, Krakow, Gelsenkirchen and Essen, each of which attracted a large number of visitors.

The colloquium is aimed at employees from the fields of geotechnics, mine surveying, mining, geology and civil engineering from authorities, engineering offices and teaching and research institutions. They will be given the opportunity to present new results, findings, working methods and technical solutions in the field of exploration, assessment, securing and maintenance of abandoned mines and other post-mining activities, to exchange experiences and to cultivate contacts.
