The series of events is organised by specialist institutes at German and Austrian universities and Working Group 4.6 ‘Abandoned Mines’ of the DGGT (German Geotechnical Society), in cooperation with the DMV (German Association of Mine Surveyors). This event builds on the series of the Colloquium on Abandoned Mining held almost annually between 2001 and 2025 in Freiberg, Clausthal/Goslar, Leoben, Aachen, Wrocław, Kraków, Gelsenkirchen and Essen.
