RETHINKING REHABILITATION MINING
Innovative approaches on the road to sustainability
The rehabilitation of mining sites is often a highly complex and technologically challenging task that depends on available technologies and economic constraints. Mining rehabilitation aims at the necessary and lasting reduction of risks and impacts on people and the environment. In the planning phase up to the completion of the rehabilitation work, it is important to consider future challenges with regard to sustainability and subsequent use. Innovative after-uses of former mining sites, the implementation of efficient energy concepts and the responsible use of resources increase social acceptance.
The experience and expertise gained from more than 30 years of rehabilitation mining will also be needed in the future. They are the basis for sustainable mining. The symposium will focus on innovative approaches on the way to sustainable rehabilitation mining.
The 5th International Mining Symposium WISSYM 2023 offers national and international mining rehabilitators, mining operators, scientists, representatives of authorities and administration as well as engineering offices a platform to exchange and discuss experiences in mining rehabilitation.
