Expomin 2016: German technology for optimising processes and increasing productivity in Chilean mining

More than 50 German companies presented their products in the German Pavilion at Expomin, the largest Chilean mining trade fair, from 25th to 29th April 2016 in Santiago. Chilean Mining Minister Aurora Williams visited the German Pavilion during the opening activities (Figure 1).

The competitive advantages of German products, particularly in terms of their alignment with high productivity and innovative technology solutions, were of particular interest in the face of the difficult economic climate in the Chilean mining sector.

Johanna Sternberg from the German-Chilean Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) explained that German companies offered top-level solutions for the entire value-added mining chain and could therefore create opportunities out of the crisis for the future of Chilean mining. She placed particular emphasis on rising energy costs, for which German companies were able to offer concrete solutions.

With the objective of presenting an overview of German products, technologies and expertise for the Chilean mining sector, the Centre of Excellence for Mining and Raw Materials at AHK Chile publishes a supplier guide, “Made in Germany”, every year. This year’s edition was launched at Expomin. Numerous exhibitors from the shared German stand were involved in the publication. (AHK Chile/Si.)
