STEAG intensifies transformation process

The Essen-based energy company STEAG GmbH (Figure 1) is consistently pushing ahead with its reorientation towards growth areas beyond its previous core business. To this end, the supervisory board of STEAG has appointed Carsten König as a new member of the management board. As Chief Transformation Officer, he will continue to drive forward the realignment process that has been successful to date.

König is the fourth new managing director of STEAG within just under a year. Since May 2020, Heiko Sanders (Commercial Division), Andreas Reichel (Human Resources and Labour Director) and Ralf Schiele (Market and Technology) have been successively newly appointed to the board. Joachim Rumstadt has been Chairman of the Management Board of STEAG since 2009.

With the transformation process started in autumn 2020, STEAG wants to open up new business areas and markets. The focus here is on smart, holistic energy solutions, the renewable energy business and the development of digital business models. In addition, STEAG sees great growth potential in the decarbonization of industry, of which the energy company has been a partner since its founding. (STEAG/Si.)
