bauma 2025 sets the tone and creates a spirit of optimism

Not every trade fair is a barometer of the industry – but bauma is, time and time again. The world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment took place from 7th to 13th April 2025 at the Munich Exhibition Centre, Munich/Germany. In a time marked by global challenges, bauma impressively demonstrated what the industry is capable of. It was not only a stage for groundbreaking innovations and new partnerships – it is and remains a key source of inspiration.

With around 600,000 visitors from more than 200 countries and 3,601 exhibitors from 57 nations, bauma 2025 proved itself to be a stable foundation and forward-looking platform in turbulent times (Figure 1). Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München, is delighted: “We welcomed around 600,000 visitors from more than 200 countries and regions. bauma is the heartbeat of the industry and has once again demonstrated how crucial personal encounters and exchanges are for progress and global trade. The exhibition centre in Munich is sending out a strong signal of confidence for the entire industry.”

The fact that bauma reflects the pulse of the industry in terms of content and emotion was confirmed by many exhibitors, especially with regard to sustainability and future-oriented topics. Erich Sennebogen, owner of Sennebogen, emphasises the signal effect: “With Sennebogen as its green heart, bauma 2025 showed the strong heartbeat of the industry.

We are thrilled by the positive mood in the industries, which was unexpected in this form. As a result, bauma can be a positive catalyst for a revival in the construction industry, but also in the material handling sectors.

We are thrilled about the positive mood in the industries, which was not to be expected in this form. Bauma can therefore be a positive catalyst for a revival in the construction industry, but also in the material handling sectors, both in Germany and internationally.” Holger Schulz, Managing Director at Zeppelin (CAT), also highlights the relevance of bauma as a leading trade fair and innovation platform: “bauma is where the who’s who of the German, European and international construction and mining industries meet. Once again, it has proven its status as a leading trade fair and the heartbeat of the industry. The seven days of the trade fair are pure adrenaline for us. bauma is the best sales platform in the world for us. Sustainability – the sustainable operation of construction machinery and construction sites with the latest drive systems and energy storage solutions – remains a very important topic. Added to this is the entire field of networked construction sites and networked construction machinery.”

Wolfgang Sochor, CEO of HAWE Hydraulik, also sees clear technological trends being confirmed: “bauma 2025 has impressively demonstrated that trends such as CO₂ reduction and alternative drive systems have established themselves in the industry.” Steffen Günther, Member of the Executive Board of Liebherr-International AG, adds: “At bauma, we showcased a number of important topics for the future, such as drive technology and autonomy. For us, bauma is much more than just a trade fair – it is the platform where the future of the industry becomes tangible. My personal highlight was our bauma motto, “Hands on the future”. For us, this is not just a phrase, but an attitude, and it was well received by customers.”

The fact that bauma is not only a meeting place but above all a business driver was also emphasised. Robert Hauser, CEO of Doka, sums up that “the joint trade fair appearance of Doka and other brands of our parent company was a complete success. The interest in our innovations and further developments was overwhelming. bauma is the most important platform for us to drive forward future topics. It brings the world of the construction industry together – from North America to Asia. Nowhere else can we hold so many high-quality discussions with the most important customers worldwide in such a short time – that’s only possible at bauma! In short: It was the most successful bauma ever for us.” Joachim Schmid, Managing Director of the VDMA Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association, adds: “The trade fair is a great success and in some cases exceeds the business expectations of our member companies. The upcoming formation of a government with the recently published coalition agreement and the expected investment packages are providing positive impetus, as is the trend towards a stronger focus on the European market.”

It was not only quantity but also quality that counted in this year’s trade fair contacts – a fact that was particularly emphasised by international exhibitors. Toshiaki Ujiie, President and CEO of the Tadano Group, highlights the role of bauma as a global platform: “bauma offers the perfect stage to present our latest technologies and solutions to a global audience. It is an invaluable event that enables us to engage in direct dialogue with our customers and industry experts.” Mehmet Varlik, Managing Director of the SCHWING/Stetter Group, was also impressed by the response: “bauma 2025 has surprised us with an extraordinary level of international interest right from the first day of the trade fair.”

bauma recorded significant visitor growth, particularly from Brazil, Portugal, Romania, the Netherlands, Turkiye and Spain. China also improved on its top result from bauma 2019.

In times of change, bauma demonstrates that innovative strength arises above all from encounters, exchange and cooperation. Alexander Fickers, CEO of Faymonville, sums it up: “What an incredible week at bauma in Munich! Countless inspiring conversations with customers and partners from all over the world made this trade fair a real highlight. bauma has once again demonstrated that innovation arises where people with vision, enthusiasm and drive come together.”

The next bauma will take place from 3rd to 9th April 2028 at the exhibition centre in Munich. (Messe München/Si.)
