Tsurumi to show heavy stuff

Tsurumi’s high-pressure pumps can reach a delivery head of up to 216 m – but with an overall height of up to 1.8 m they are also as high as a man. Photo: Tsurumi

At Steinexpo 2023 in Germany, exhibitor Tsurumi will be showing not only universal pumps but also heavy-duty equipment for harsh scenarios: when deep pits have to be dewatered or a lot of sediment is involved.

The manufacturer is at home on this terrain and knows how to deliver. Whether for tunnels, mines or special civil engineering: In Europe’s largest basalt quarry, the Düsseldorf-based company will demonstrate this year how dewatering works in extreme environments.

Among other pumps, the GPN series will be on display. For the heavy slurry pump, the manufacturer relies on a housing made of thick-walled grey cast iron GG20 to counteract abrasion. The spiral-shaped water flow through the housing is a plus when it comes to avoid blockages – after all, soil and sludge should be able to be pumped along without any problems, even in large quantities. An agitator on the shaft swirls everything to make it flowable. Grain sizes up to 30 mm are insignificant, they said. To reduce clogging, the impeller and suction plate are made of chrome cast iron. The series comprises six models. They achieve flow rates of up to 9000 l/min and heights of up to 34 m. The motors have an output of between 5,5 and 37 kW.

With its LH pump shown at Steinexpo, the manufacturer goes even further, or rather: deeper. The high-pressure pumps of this series can pump water up to 177 m vertically. The two-stage LH-W even goes up to 216 m – Tsurumi is the only supplier worldwide in this field. This means that a single pump is all that is needed – instead of several pumps, which would be costly to connect in series.

For the Steinexpo in Nieder-Ofleiden, Tsurumi has also packed a whole series of single-phase pumps. All of them are universalists, some are even suitable for residue-free pumping out of containers and puddles – i.e. down to a residual level of 1 mm. The manufacturer shows some units in live wet operation. Cutaway models reveal to experts what the pumps are capable of. More on Tsurumi.eu or Youtube.
