Current issue 2/2026
Editorial
Dear readers,
the second issue of 2026 partly serves as a review of the presentations given at the 12th Colloquium on Conveying Technology in Mining, held at Clausthal University of Technology, Clausthal/Germany, in February this year. The range of topics extends from raw materials projects in Western Australia and the associated prospects for the supply industry, through a joint project on innovations in battery-powered trolley vehicles for underground transport in a Swedish mine, to a modular underwater robot for exploring flooded infrastructure in former mining areas – covering its development, challenges and initial practical applications. Furthermore, articles focus on the safety of autonomous conveyor systems in modern mining, as well as mobile concrete conveying and shotcrete solutions for mining and tunnelling. Last but not least, the article explores the need to explain artificial intelligence to the mining industry. We believe these are all exciting topics for the future, which the authors are currently addressing and wish to discuss in this issue.
The industry’s next major event is already on the horizon. The MiningForum will take place in Berlin from 18 to 19 June. Under the theme “Raw Materials Momentum”, presentations on current topics will once again be given, some of which will feature in the next issue of this magazine.
Finally, a personal note: in the foreword to the first issue of 2026, Michael Weberink has already announced me as editorial support for the Mining Report GlĂĽckauf. Together with Karsten Gutberlet, I will endeavour to present you with the latest topics in the coming issues. Naturally, a key focus will be on Germany, current issues in the raw materials sector, future mining projects, as well as post-mining topics. Not to mention the recruitment of skilled workers for the industry and the important issues of transparency and sustainability in mining projects. Naturally, international topics relating to active mining as well as post-mining activities will continue to feature in this magazine.
We at the editorial team are very happy to receive your suggestions and feedback. They are welcome and serve as an incentive for us to improve our work.
Enjoy reading and GlĂĽckauf!
